Duranta erecta 'Geisha Girl' is a hardy and fast growing plant known for its cascading purple-blue flowers, often forming delicate clusters or panicles at the tips of stems.

This ornamental shrub, or small to medium tree, is often seen as an old world plant as it dates back to the 18th and early 19th century and is truly a visual delight.

 

The flowers are complimented by light green serrated, oval shaped leaves, and the stems are well known for having a weeping growth habit with reliable year-round vibrant foliage.

 

Geisha Girl, as it is often commonly known, enjoys a full sun to part shade position and is heat tolerant for temperatures between 0-43 degrees celcius, is low maintenance, versatile and disease resistant.

 

Attracting pollinating insects, butterflies, and many bird species for its striking flowers and appealing golden orange berries. The birds love to hide within the dense foliage and eat on the fruit.

 

Duranta erecta is self sustaining, and is an excellent companion plant due to the natural insect predators it attracts that control common garden pests.
